BYA Summer Showcase
Summer Studio Apprentice Showcase 2026: Envisioning the future of a Healthy Harbor and Thriving Baltimore
Join Baltimore Youth Arts as we celebrate the culmination of our Summer Studio Apprentice Program with a showcase of original artwork created for our partnership with the National Aquarium's Harbor Wetland project, a free, outdoor tidal salt marsh located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
Over the past several weeks, our youth apprentices, ages 14–25, have worked directly with Aquarium staff, from conservationists to members of the education team, alongside BYA facilitators, to explore what a healthy Baltimore harbor could look like in 25, 50, and 100 years. Through this collaboration, apprentices developed original artwork that adds a visual and interpretive layer to the Harbor Wetland project, bringing scientific insight and youth imagination together to reflect on environmental restoration and the future of our city.
But the summer was about more than one project. Apprentices built resume and professional development skills, visited cultural institutions like the Baltimore Museum of Art and the American Visionary Art Museum, and connected with mission-driven organizations like MissionFit. These experiences reflect the wraparound approach at the heart of BYA's work: giving young creatives the space to build relationships, challenge themselves artistically, and collaborate on major projects here in Baltimore, about Baltimore.
This showcase is more than an exhibition. It's a chance to see how creative entrepreneurship and mentorship shape not only the artists but the way our community envisions its future. Come see the finished work, meet the apprentices, and hear directly from them about the inspiration and research behind each piece.
All are welcome. We hope to see you there!
