What is the Studio Apprentice Program?
The Studio Apprentice Program is a creative entrepreneurship and job training program that provides artistic and professional opportunities to young people, ages 14-21, with a focus on those involved in the justice system. Our mission is to assist young people in gaining the creative, personal, and educational skills that will enable them to become leaders in their communities.
Studio Apprentices are paid $15/hour
Throughout the Studio Apprentice Program, Apprentices gain creative and professional skills through:
Graphic Design, Screen Printing, Painting, Drawing, Sculpture
Life and Job Readiness Classes
College application assistance
Entrepreneurship / Business Development
Portfolio Development
Event and program planning in the BYA Gallery and Store
Product development for BYA’s online and studio store as well as for pop-up events
Assisting with the BYA store and working sales events ( pop-ups, fairs, and other events around the city)
Each session’s content changes based on current projects and youth interest
Priority will be given to youth connected to DJS

Dates: March 3- May 14
Schedule: Tuesday-Thursday, 4:30-6:30 PM
BYA’s Spring SAP session will begin in March 2026. Please complete the interest form linked above, and we will follow up with additional information. Apprentices will participate for approximately 6-8 hours each week, between Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Spring SAP session will run from March-May 2026.

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 9:30 AM-3 PM
If you are interested in working with BYA in the summer of 2026, please complete the application above AFTER submitting your Youthworks application here. We can only accept young people who have applied through YouthWorks in the summer session. YouthWorks applications are DUE on March 07, 2026

Step 2: Complete the BYA SAP interest form (the button below)
Step 3: Email your Youthworks confirmation receipt to jobreadiness@bmoreyoutharts.org
BYA staff will then contact you and schedule a brief interview. After your interview, we will let you know if you are in the Summer 2026 Studio Apprentice Program
