Business/Entrepreneurship Facilitator Job Description PT 

$22/hr, 15 hrs/week

Baltimore Youth Arts (BYA) is a creative entrepreneurship and job training program that provides artistic and professional opportunities to youth, ages 14-22, with a focus on those involved in the justice system. Our mission is to assist young people in gaining the creative, personal, and educational skills that will enable them to become leaders in their communities.

Baltimore Youth Arts is currently hiring a Business/Entrepreneurship Facilitator for upcoming sessions at the BYA Community Studio. 

Sessions run between 5-10 weeks.


  • Develop 5-10 week project plans

  • Engage 6-15 youth at the BYA Studio Community in one to two weekly, 1.5-2 hour classes. Student ages range from 14-21 years old

  • Track participant attendance and submit to Deputy Director

  • Assist in the documentation of student work

  • Search for and apply to sales events

  • Attend sales events with Studio Apprentices

  • Attend classes within the BCJJC to speak about BYA Studio Programming

  • Participate in trainings and orientation at BYA and BCJJC

  • Provide class outlines, lesson plans, and materials lists to Executive Director and review with full staff

  • Develop lesson plans to teach youth how to sell their own and collaborative artwork/products on the BYA online store and at fairs/events

  • Provide assistance to students with the completion and generation of projects

  • Adequately clean space at the end of each class


  • Minimum Education: High School, some college preferred

  • Minimum Age: 21 (to instruct within the BCJJC)

  • Minimum teaching experience: 3 Years

Preferred Skills

  • Be well versed in business, entrepreneurship, and/or selling products 

  • Strong teaching and group facilitation skills

  • Experience working with youth

  • Working artist with a strong studio practice

  • Belief in the creative potential and voices of young people affected by the juvenile justice system

  • Successful candidate will need a reliable source of transportation and license 

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Must pass annual background check (BYA does not hire based on background. We will take any charges and dates of charges into consideration.)

This position requires instructors to maintain patience, flexibility, and to have an understanding of the juvenile justice system.
