Youth Job Application Assistant/Volunteer


Baltimore Youth Arts (BYA) is a creative entrepreneurship and job training program that provides artistic and professional opportunities to youth, ages 14-22, with a focus on those involved in the justice system. Our mission is to assist young people in gaining the creative, personal, and educational skills that will enable them to become leaders in their communities.

BYA is seeking volunteers to work with youth and assist in completing job applications for the upcoming session at the Baltimore Youth Arts Community Studio. 

This is a temporary position.


  • Engage youth at the BYA Community Studio in a 1.5-2 hour weekly session. Students range from 14-21 years old

  • Assist youth in the job search and application process 

  • Review youth applications for professional etiquette 

  • Assist in updating youth resumes and writing cover letters for positions

  • Assist youth, along with BYA staff, in getting to and from local job fairs, interviews, college info days

  • Track participant attendance and submit to Deputy Director

  • Attend trainings and orientation at BYA 


  • Minimum Education: High School, some college preferred

  • Minimum teaching experience: 2 Years

Preferred Skills

  • Strong mentoring and teaching skills

  • Strong writing skills

  • Experience working with youth

  • Successful candidate will need a reliable source of transportation

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Must pass annual background check

This position requires instructors to maintain patience, flexibility, and to have an understanding of the juvenile justice system.
