The Studio Apprentice Program is a creative entrepreneurship and job training program that provides artistic and professional opportunities to young people, ages 14-22, with a focus on those involved in the justice system. Our mission is to assist young people in gaining the creative, personal, and educational skills that will enable them to become leaders in their communities.
Throughout the Studio Apprentice Program, Apprentices gain creative and professional skills through:
Graphic Design, Screen Printing, Painting, Drawing, Sculpture
Life and Job Readiness Classes
Entrepreneurship / Business Development
Event and program planning in the BYA Gallery and Store
Product development for BYA’s online and studio store as well as for pop-up events
Assisting with the BYA store and working sales events ( pop-ups, fairs, and other events around the city)
All Studio Apprentices take part in weekly life and career readiness trainings on the following topics: 1) Professional Behavior and Workplace Ethics, 2) How to Open a Bank Account and Budget Money, 3) Cover letter and Resume Development, 4) Interview Tips and Mock Interviews, 5) Navigating The Job Search, 6) Goal Setting: (Educational, Personal and Professional) 7) Entrepreneurship and Personal Brand Development
