I am originally from Baltimore, MD. I started getting into art at age of 6. I became more serious as when I was going through school because that’s the only thing I was doing. Drawing was like a non-stop thing. My goal as an artist is to start my own manga / anime franchise. I want it to be world wide so it can be as big as the big three famous anime franchises (Bleach, Dragonball Z, Naruto).
Following are questions asked by youth artists of BYA and answered by Da'Shawn
What are your strengths and weaknesses as an artist?
One of my strength as an artist is the way that I use colors. I also like how the style attracts attention. I need to work on sharing and adding depth to my art.
What makes you interested in art?
I got into art through anime and its art and storytelling. I want to create my own and turn it into a big franchise so it could be adapted to live action movies and video games.
What makes your art interesting?
The meaning behind the character. The color that just pops out like you’ll just be focused on the whole thing.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I got my inspiration from Anime/Japanese manga artists because everything in their work shows some type of meaning behind it. The characters they created show more depth to their emotions.
What is the purpose behind your art / anime?
My art/anime will have a story that I can tell that is in my mind. My anime characters show the way I am feeling inside.
